Each year a minor miracle takes place in Melbourne. It´s the transformation of a leafy, inner suburban park into an international gathering-point for some of the biggest movers and shakers in world sport.
For the FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX a small army of construction workers, organisers, officials and volunteers will once again change Albert Park into a global shop-window for the finest in Australian major events.

After moving from Adelaide to Melbourne in 1996, the Australian Grand prix has become popular with both drivers and fans. In the first race held at the Street Circuit, Martin Brundles Jordan was launched into the air at Turn 3 - the Melbourne Race headlined the world news. Martin Brundle escaped major injuries.
The 5.303km Circuit offers the drivers with little grip and little run off areas. Tight turns and small straights make this circuit challenging for the drivers.

The Albert Park track is characterised by long sweeping curves, punctuated by tight chicanes and corners. This is demonstrated as you start a lap of the circuit, powering up through the gears along the start-finish line at the 5.303 km Albert Park circuit, you reach some 305 km/h in seventh gear, before braking hard for the right-left weave of turns one and two. The Aughtie Drive straight follows and leads to the tight right of turn three, which is taken at 80 km/h in second gear, which marks the hardest breaking point on the track as you pull some 3.5G. Turn five marks the start of a sequence of bends through which you need to maintain as much speed as possible to ensure you secure a quick lap time. Turn ten is another long, flowing bend, which sees you accelerate through the left of turn ten as your speed increases to some 294 km/h in seventh gear, before the fast left-right chicane of eleven and twelve. The final section of the track is a combination of slow, sharp bends, the last of which is a tight left hander and is negotiated in first gear at 70 km/h. On the exit, you apply throttle momentarily and shortshift into third gear for the last bumpy right hander that flicks you back onto the start finish straight to begin another lap.

GRANDSTANDS

Brabham Situated on driver's right, between Turns 1 and 2, the Brabham Grandstand allows uninterrupted views of shoulder to shoulder racing as the fastest men on four wheels decelerate from speeds in excess of 300km/h on the main straight.

Jones The legendary Turn 1 at Albert Park often makes or breaks a race as drivers compete for position. See the thrills and spills of Formula One up close as they enter the first corner of the race. Wheelchair access available.

Prost Premium Undercover seating in the Prost Grandstand located at Turn 16 driver's left, allows the sights and sounds of the Grand Prix to be enjoyed in comfort. Situated at the top of the Prost Grandstand, this Premium seating offers a view down the main straight.

Prost Located at Turn 16 driver's left, the infamous Prost Grandstand hosts a view of the heart stopping Turn 16 and the tearaway surge that divides Pit Entry and the main straight. Witness the final corner as they race towards the chequered flag. Wheelchair access available.

Fangio Premium Situated at the heart of the circuit, Fangio Premium offers undercover padded seating at the top of the Fangio Grandstand. Witness the roar from the starting grid, the pit stops, the race to the chequered flag and the podium ceremony in comfort.

Senna Located at the southern end of the main straight with an ideal view of pit entry, the Senna Grandstand is the place to witness the extraordinary speeds of Turn 16 before full throttle towards the start/finish line.

Clark The Clark Grandstand combines the view of Turns 9 and 10 where you can witness Formula One at speeds in excess of 275km/h as they negotiate the twists and turns of the Albert Park circuit.

Waite In close proximity to the Golf Course entertainment precinct, the Waite Grandstand offers prime viewing of Turns 11 and 12 - two of the fastest corners on the track.

Schumacher Exclusive to single day Grandstand tickets only, the Schumacher Grandstand is positioned in between Turns 15 and 16 drivers´ left, offering a fantastic view of the penultimate corner. Witness racing at its best through Turn 15 into crucial pit stops where every second counts before hitting the controlled pit lane speed.
