    Malaysian F1 Grand Prix

    Circuit Information Page

    SEPANG FI CIRCUIT
Offering lightning fast straights, heart-stopping corners and non-stop high speed action, the Sepang F1 Circuit is recognized as one of the worlds most sophisticated and exciting F1 circuit. Not only that, it is located a mere 8 kilometers from our hotel!

At 5.5 km in length, this circuit comprises of a complex series of uphill and downhill turns built into the natural topography of the track site providing a unique challenge to both driver and car. Especially since it boasts varied curve types in its 15 turns and 8 straights that allows for speeds of 90 to 310 km/hour.

Furthermore the track was rated the Most Challenging by the drivers in the 1999 Grand Prix. This unique design is in accordance with F1 specifications, providing some of the best racing for both drivers and spectators alike. Not only does the track host F1 events, it also hosts international motorbike racing events and local car racing events.

The Malaysian Grand Prix is the only Formula 1 race ever to be staged on the Asian sub-continent. Sepang's huge double-frontage grandstand that faces the back straight and the start-finish straight seats 75,000 race fans. The circuit's full name is Sepang F1 circuit, making it the only track in the world allowed to use the prefix 'F1' in its title.

The track has 18,000 purpose-built parking spaces. No Silverstone-style parking nightmares at Sepang! With a width of 16 metres Sepang is one of the widest tracks in the world. Sepang was voted the most challenging track on the grand prix calendar by Formula 1 drivers in 1999. The circuit is the first one in the world to be equipped with electronic marshals' posts which flash colored lights to the drivers instead of flags. The construction of the Sepang circuit took 14 months, costing RM286 million. At times, there were well over 1,000 people working on the site.

I look forward to hearing from you,
